About Us

The James Bay Ambulance Service operated by the James Bay General Hospital presently serves the Communities Attawapiskat, Fort Albany, Keshechewan, Moose Factory, and Moosonee. Located a short distance from the shores of James Bay on the Hudson Bay, we are in the migratory flyway of the Canada and Snow geese. Being an ocean port the communities are affected by daily tides and there is occasional opportunity to view Beluga Whales and Ringed seals. Along with pre-hospital care in the communities listed we indirectly serve the surrounding communities in initiating and providing host support for First Response Teams. We respond to an average of 400 calls per month from three bases located in Attawapiskat, Moose Factory and Moosonee.

The staffing patterns are 24 hours 7 days on site in Moosonee and Moose Factory and 12 hours 7 days on site 12 hours 7 days standby in all other stations

Our current staff compliment consists of:

1 Full time Director

4 Full time supervisors

25 Full Time Primary Care Paramedics

9 Part Time Primary Care Paramedics
